Doctor's assessment for the flu vaccine — 329 NOK
Seasonal flu is a respiratory infection that comes every winter. If you are 65 or older, or in a risk group, you get the vaccine through the adult immunisation programme from your GP (fastlege) or municipality. Pharmacies can also give the flu vaccine without a doctor's prescription. The doctor assesses whether the vaccine is right for you based on your age, health and the Norwegian Institute of Public Health's (FHI) recommendations.

Doctor's assessment
A doctor assesses whether the vaccine suits you.
A reply usually the same day
If the doctor finds that the flu vaccine is right for you, the e-prescription is sent digitally — ready to collect at any pharmacy.
The vaccine is given at a pharmacy
The pharmacy both sells and gives the vaccine — with or without an appointment.
We can help with
- ✓ A doctor's assessment and an e-prescription for the flu vaccine when the doctor finds it is right for you — for adults, young people and children (a parent or guardian submits for children under 16)
- ✓ A reply from a doctor, usually the same day
- ✓ A written assessment explaining why or why not
We can NOT help with
- ✗ The vaccine itself — you buy it and have it given at a pharmacy or vaccination clinic
- ✗ People who have had a severe allergic reaction to a vaccine before
329 NOK covers the doctor's assessment — not the vaccine
- The doctor assesses whether the vaccine is right for you, usually the same day. If it is, the doctor writes an e-prescription.
- You buy the vaccine and have it given at a pharmacy (Apotek 1, Vitus, Boots, Ditt Apotek). Prices at the pharmacy vary — see "Flu vaccine explained" (in Norwegian) for dose and duration.
- The pharmacy only needs your ID — the prescription is digital and linked to your Norwegian national ID number (fødselsnummer).
- Do you need more vaccines for the same trip? A full travel vaccine assessment covers all the vaccines your trip needs for 379 NOK — often cheaper than ordering each vaccine separately.
