What is LegeOnline?

LegeOnline is a digital doctor clinic where you can get a medical assessment, advice and treatment from a doctor – fully online. We offer written consultations, video consultations and a range of specialised health services.

Which conditions can you help with?

We can help with common conditions such as urinary tract infections, allergies, skin problems, acne, medicine follow-up, medical certificates, contraception, travel vaccines and much more. See our services overview for the full list.

What can you NOT help with?

Accepted Answer

We cannot help with emergencies or life-threatening conditions (call 113), controlled medicines (A and B preparations: narcotic or habit-forming), sick notes (sykemelding), conditions that need a physical examination, or driving licence certificates.

How much does it cost?

All consultations cost 379 NOK. The price covers the doctor’s assessment and advice. A video consultation (20 min) is included if needed. If your case needs substantially more work than a normal consultation, the doctor may decide to charge it as a double consultation – 379 NOK on top of the normal price – or agree a higher supplement with you for very extensive cases. You are always told the amount in your case before the extra work is done, so you can choose to withdraw.

Is this covered by insurance or Helfo?

No. LegeOnline is a private health service and is not covered by the public patient charge scheme (egenandel) or Helfo. Some private health insurance policies cover digital doctor services – check with your insurer.

Question 6

How do I pay?

Accepted Answer

You pay with Vipps or Stripe after you send the form. With Stripe you can pay with Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Klarna and more. You are not charged until the form is approved and sent.

Question 7

Do I get a refund if the doctor cannot help me?

Accepted Answer

If the doctor cannot assess your case online, and you receive neither treatment nor advice, we refund the full amount. Please note that a medical assessment counts as a completed service – even when the doctor concludes that you do not need prescription medicine. How long does it take to get a reply?

You get a reply from a doctor within 24 hours. Most requests are answered much faster – usually within 1–2 hours.

Question 9

Can I get a prescription?

Accepted Answer

Yes. If the doctor considers a prescription necessary and medically sound, the e-prescription is sent to the national prescription database (Reseptformidleren) and you can collect it at any pharmacy in Norway.

Can you refer me to a specialist?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The doctor can write a referral to a specialist, for X-rays, blood tests and other examinations when needed.

What happens if I need a physical examination?

If the doctor considers that you need a physical examination, you will be advised to contact your GP or the out-of-hours emergency clinic (legevakt). We help you understand what to do next.

How is my personal data handled?

All health information is encrypted with AES-256-GCM before it is stored. We follow the GDPR and Norwegian health legislation. Your information is never shared with third parties without your consent.

Is communication secure?

Yes, all communication is encrypted. We use end-to-end encryption for sensitive information and secure servers for storage.

How long is my information stored?

Health information is stored in line with Norwegian law on medical records. You can ask for access to or deletion of your data at any time. Read more in our terms and privacy policy (in Norwegian).

Do I need to download an app?

Accepted Answer

No. LegeOnline works directly in the browser on your phone, tablet and computer. No app needed.

Question 16

Can I use the service on behalf of someone else?

Accepted Answer

No. The form must be filled in by the person who needs treatment, with their correct national ID number (fødselsnummer). The exception is children under 16, where a parent or guardian can fill it in.

What do I do if I am acutely ill?

For acute, life-threatening illness, call 113. If you need the out-of-hours emergency clinic (legevakt), call 116 117. LegeOnline is not an emergency service.
