What does it cost to treat the whole family?

The first person costs 379 NOK, and each additional household member 227 NOK — a 40% discount. A family of four pays 1,060 NOK instead of 1,516 NOK. Each member gets their own assessment by a doctor and their own prescription; the discount applies to the price, not to how thorough the assessment is.

Can I register my children?

Accepted Answer

Yes. You add children under 16 yourself in the form, with name, Norwegian national ID number (fødselsnummer), weight, symptoms and any photos — you confirm that you have parental responsibility. You cannot fill in the form on behalf of adults and young people aged 16 and over: they get a link by text message and confirm with BankID themselves, because only they can consent to their own healthcare.

Does the whole household need treatment?

Yes, usually. Scabies spreads through close skin contact and may cause few symptoms early on, so everyone who lives together should be treated at the same time to avoid reinfection. After you submit, you can register the rest of the household in the same flow — you also find it on My page (Min Side): you add children under 16 yourself, while adults get a link by text message and confirm with BankID. How is the treatment used?

The cream is usually applied to the whole body from the neck/chin down (including between the toes and under the nails), left on overnight and washed off. The treatment is repeated after 7–10 days. The doctor gives you exact instructions in the consultation.

Question 5

What about the itching afterwards?

Accepted Answer

The itching can last 2–4 weeks after successful treatment, because the skin reacts to the dead mites. It does not necessarily mean the treatment has not worked. Moisturising cream and possibly an antihistamine can help.

Question 6

What needs washing?

Accepted Answer

Bedding, towels and clothes used in the last 3 days are washed at 60 °C or more, or kept in a sealed bag for a week. Mattresses and furniture need no special treatment.
